5 Tips to refresh your bedroom for summer!
Refreshing a room for summer with just a new rug can make a huge difference—it’s one of the easiest ways to transform the mood of a space. Here are some tips you can use:
1. Choose a Material that works with every season
Natural fibres like wool, jute, sisal, or seagrass give an airy, timeless feel and are durable. More importantly they work in winter and summer seasons due to their versatility.

2. Play with Colour & Pattern
• Light neutrals (beige, sand, ivory) open up a space and reflect sunlight, making the room feel brighter.
• Mediterranean tones (terracotta, soft blues, sage green) can give a coastal or Spanish-inspired summer mood
• Consider striped or geometric patterns for a casual, lively feel, or a subtle textured weave for understated elegance.
3. Adjust Size & Placement
• A larger rug can make a room feel more open and airier if you keep furniture on top of it.
• For summer, you could also try a smaller rug that creates negative space and shows off more of your flooring (which works especially well if you have beautiful timber or stone floors).

4. Layering for Texture
Layering a light jute rug under a smaller patterned rug can add depth without feeling heavy. This gives you the versatility to swap the top layer as seasons change (lighter in summer, deeper hues in winter).
5. Tie It to Summer Styling
• Pair the rug with light curtains, airy linens, and natural textures (like rattan, linen, wool or cane furniture).
• Add pops of summer colour with cushions, throws, or even fresh flowers or plants to tie the rug into the whole space.
